Opus Artis Paris International Art and Design Competition

Poster competition. 2 artworks were produced exploring Debussy's “Clair de Lune”. The moon in quiet reflection with itself, echoing Paul Verlaine's poem where moonlight washes over a peaceful yet melancholic scene, blending subtle joy with a touch of sadness. Drawing from Verlaine's lines (“Your soul is a chosen landscape... Filled with music played by plaintive tones”), I personify the moon and give her two sides. In Artwork 1, it gazes shyly at its partial reflection in a mirror, evoking a sense of insecurity and self-discovery. In Artwork 2, the water reflection swells larger and more radiant than the moon itself, representing an inner glow that shows a more confident form. This contrast mirrors Debussy's Suite Bergamasque piece: the arpeggiated ripples suggest dripping water (measure 27 in the score), while the central motifs echo the melody's repetitive, introspective flow. The palette of purples, pinks, and blues enhances the poem's hazy night dream and the music's building swells, transforming solitude into a visual dialogue of reflection and revelation.
